About Mandatory Fun Games

About Mandatory Fun Games

Mandatory Fun Games is an independent game studio built from the ground up by a small team of artists, designers, and storytellers who believe games should be more than products; they should be expressions of the world that made them. We create games that blend satire, horror, and heart, telling stories that reflect modern society through dark humor, absurdity, and atmosphere.

Our Mission

To create thought-provoking, darkly comedic games that explore human systems, corporate, social, and psychological, while supporting new developers and artists breaking into the industry. Mandatory Fun Games exists to prove that independent studios can be just as bold and meaningful as big-budget publishers, without losing their soul along the way.

What We Stand For

  • Creative Freedom: Every project should feel like art, not an algorithm.
  • Community Over Competition: We’re building a space where collaboration and mentorship thrive.
  • Transparency: We share our progress, struggles, and successes openly through devlogs and updates.
  • Accessibility: Games for everyone, from die-hard fans to casual players looking for something different.
  • Support for New Talent: We aim to help recent grads and self-taught developers gain real experience in a professional yet supportive environment.

What We’re Working Toward

Our first major title, Dooms Day Delivery Service, is a dark comedy action game about corporate exploitation at the end of the world. It’s our way of holding up a mirror to modern labor, technology, and capitalism, and finding humor in the chaos.

But AO Games isn’t just about one project. We’re laying the groundwork for a long-term creative studio, one that will:

  • Release new indie titles that push boundaries and experiment with tone and genre.
  • Mentor up-and-coming developers and help them ship their own ideas.
  • Support social causes tied to labor rights, accessibility, and creative freedom in gaming.

We want to be a studio that creates opportunities, tells weird stories, and keeps things real.

The Meaning Behind the Name

Mandatory Fun Games is a parody of the “Mandatory Fun Days” we used to endure in the Army, those cheerful, forced-smile events that were somehow supposed to make us forget how miserable we were. It perfectly captures the tone we’re aiming for: dark humor, rebellion disguised as positivity, and the creative freedom to make games that say something real

Join the Journey

We’re still early in our story, building the demo for Dooms Day Delivery Service, growing our team, and establishing the foundation for Mandatory Fun Games. If you want to follow our progress or support what we’re doing:

This studio was born from passion, late nights, and a love of games that say something. Thanks for being part of it.
